MAPS hosts: University of South Florida College of Medicine Q&A

This presentation will be hosted by Alexandria Quinones, the Admissions Counselor and Recruiter at the USF College of Medicine. This will be a quick overview of the application process, how it relates to USF COM and why students should apply to USF COM. Question and answer session will follow.

This is a great opportunity for Juniors and Seniors who are looking to apply into medical school in the near future. It is also a way for the freshman and sophomores to get a JUMP START on their search for potential medical schools.

I hope that you all are able to attend and bring LOTS of questions that you may have about anything medical school related. I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

Research Forum THIS SATURDAY!

¡Fiesta! Ronald McDonald House Service Event


MAPS will be volunteering at the Ronald McDonald house THIS Sunday, September 26th at 4:20pm. We will be preparing a dinner for the families so please arrive promptly. This will
also be a great opportunity to meet and greet our wonderful E-board!

Below is a list of supplies we will need in order to prepare the dinner. You will receive an additional community service point if you bring any of the following items:

Taco shells (5/6 packs)
Beef
Lettuce
Tomatoes (4)
Green pepper (1)
Onion (1)
Mexican mix cheese (3)
Salsa (2 jars)
Sour cream (1)
Cookie dough to bake cookies (4)

This is year’s Regional Conference will be hosted by Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. The date of this event is October 29-31, 2010.

Bring a hard copy to the next general body meeting (9/27), OR email a copy to the President at ufmapspresident@gmail.com

Q: "OK I already filled out an application--how do I become an ACTIVE member?"

A: To be considered an active member of MAPS you need to fulfill these minimum requirements:

  • 4 General Body Meetings
  • 2 Financials (concessions and other fundraisers, bringing materials for fundraisers, bringing food to an event, or anything else designated by treasurer)
  • 2 Tabling Sessions OR 3 cumulative hours of tabling
  • 2 Academic Points (Attend Study Nights or submit tests to test bank)
  • 2 Community Service Events
  • 1 Social
  • Attend Research Forum (Fall) and Health Fair (Spring)
  • Join a Committee
  • OR Accumulate 15 points by the end of the semester
